In the year 2017-2018, Smt. M.K.Jayamma and Sri. B.S.R.Sastry Trust has completed many activities successfully.
The Trust, in association with the support of
Mrs. and Mr. Kush Desai built four Residential Quarters for Doctors and
Lecturers belonging to the SVYM Hospitals and Educational Institutions. The
keys to these residential quarters were handed over to the SVYM team on 21st October 2018 in the annual scholarship programme of the Trust. This
initiative is intended to help the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement hospitals and
educational institutions attract the best talent, consequently helping the
general public get better medical care and the Taluk’s children get better educational
facilities.
With the help of Prayoga, an NGO established
for experiential science education to students in their formative years , the
trust conducted a Science Symposium for about 200 Students and Teachers of the
Sargur Taluk, providing students a ‘hands-on learning experience’. An
additional feature of this event was that 20- plus students of Samvida , a home
school run by progressive parents also participated in the workshop, where they
rubbed shoulders with local students. Dr. H.S.Nagaraja, Managing Trustee, Prayoga
and the faculty helped the Trust to conduct the Symposium .
The Trust successfully conducted many music programs during the year with the help of Vid. B. Shankar
Rao Sir, President of Prapancha, the World of Music, , Vid. D.V.Nagarajan Sir,
Principal Balaji Sangeetha Vidyalaya and Vid. P. Sreenivasa Murthy, Principal
of Gurusmruthi Kala Kendra. Also, during the year, the Trust provided Scholarships
to Senior students pursuing Carnatic Music under the tutelage of Vid. D.V.
Nagarajan, Principal, Balaji Sangeetha Vidyalaya.
The Smt. M.K. Jayamma and Sri BSR Sastry
Trust is working with Samatvam Endocrinology Diabetes Center (SEDC), a
health-care and medical institution specializing in treatment and management of
diabetes and other endocrine metabolic disorders. The Trust made donations for
treating needy and poor patients suffering from Diabetes and related diseases. The Trust also made substantial donations for
conducting surgeries, providing medicines and other related expenses of poor
and needy patients suffering from Cancer through the Shankara Cancer Hospital
and ResearchFoundation.
The Trust sponsored the expenses to
be incurred in the treatment of Filariasis of 2
needy students afflicted with the disease , incidentally one of them is
a lady student pursuing her ph.d., program and the other a male student pursuing
his Architectural course and they would undergo the treatment in the Institute
for Applied Dermatalogy at Kasargod under Dr Narahari’s care.
The Trust also contributed to the people affected
by the 2018 floods in Kodagu and Kerala . In association with a few NGOs
supplied them Warm blankets , Oral fluids , Medicines , Food and many items
required to maintain hygiene.
The Trust
is continued to support SoCare,
started in 1999 by Shri V. Mani, a
retired RBI official. SoCare helps more than 170 children mostly of ex-convicts/life-time
convicts. The Children are housed in the SoCare-run child home and are sent to
local private schools. For the current year, the Trust has extended the support towards the expenses
incurred for three such students.
During the current
year, the Trust is providing financial assistance to about 85 students of the Udaya Bhanu Kala Sangha. This assistance
ensures that 50% of the recipients are girl students. The Trust has also identified Chi Rahul who Secured First Rank in the GATE 2018 and Chi Manoj Dixit who stood Second for the country in the GATE 2018 for Prathibha Puraskar Award. Rahul also secured
First Rank & won several gold medals in the B.Tech., from the PES
University and currently pursuing M.Tech. at the IISc., Bangalore. Manoj Dixit has secured 2nd Rank in B.Tech,
from the PES University. He is pursuing Ph.D. by Research at the IISc., Bangalore.

Sri P Sreenivasa Murthy, Mrudanga Vidwan and Renowned Guru, dedicated Doctors,
Dr S.R. Narahari & Dr K.S. Prasanna, Director, Institute of Applied
Dermatalogy, Kasargod for felicitation for their significant contributions to their chosen field.
