Class Room Dedicated to Viveka School of Excellence

Smt M. K. Jayamma and Sri. B.S.R. Sastry  Trust in academic collaboration with BASE, Bengaluru had recently organized several programmes at Viveka School of Excellence in Saragur on Saturday, 3rd January 2015. The school is managed by Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), HD Kote of Mysore district .  The programmes were  organized during a two day visit to the facilities of SVYM in Sargur, Kenchenahalli and Hosahalli on 3rd and 4th of January 2015.

The first programme ‘Scientific Session’ was conducted by expert teachers of BASE, Bangalore and was guided by Dr. H.S.Nagaraja, founder - director BASE. Sri. H.S.Sastry, renowned mathematics teacher, Dr. S. S. Srikanta – Diabetologist, Prof. S. Sundarrajan, retired Professor of Mathematics, Vidwan D. V. Nagarajan – renowned Carnatic vocalist and Music teacher, Dr. Seetharam of SVYM, Sri. B. R. Ravi, and Sri. B. R. Nagaraj – trustees of Smt M. K. Jayamma and Sri. B.S.R. Sastry Trust were present during the inauguration of the Scientific Session.  Ten teachers of BASE conducted about 12 sessions in various science streams to the students of Viveka School of Excellence. 


In the afternoon,  a class room sponsored by Smt M. K. Jayamma and Sri. B.S.R. Sastry Trust at the Viveka School of Excellence  was inaugurated.  Dr. M. R. Seetharam of SVYM spoke on the occasion.  A Carnatic vocal concert was  organized in the evening between 6pm – 8.30pm. Karnataka Kalaratna Vidwan D. V. Nagarajan was accompanied by Sri. Ramanathan on the violin and Sri. Suhas on the Mridangam.

A visit was made to Kenchenahalli hospital and tribal school of Hosahalli on 4th January 2015. A debriefing session was held in Hosahalli and it was discussed as to how the tribal culture could be preserved yet develop the area to provide gainful employment and increase educational avenues to the local community. It was decided to form a group known as  ‘Viveka Seva Dal (VSD)’  co-ordinated by Smt M. K. Jayamma and Sri. B.S.R. Sastry Trust  for supporting initiatives of SVYM with Sri. B. R. Ravi set to spearhead the project.  

About Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM)
SVYM, a social initiative taken up by a group of young medical professionals in remote forest areas of Mysore district about 30 years ago.Today,SVYM has brought about a positive change in 400, 000 patients which includes tribals of H D Kote and neighboring areas of Hunsur, Nanjangud & Gundulpet taluk.SVYM educational institutions are reaching out to 30, 000 children annually. Socio and Economic empowerment programmes of SVYM is reaching  2,75,000 people of H D Kote taluk including 17,000 of tribals of H.D.Kote and adjoining areas. SVYM is also actively engaged in Training, Research, Advocacy & Consultancy activities related to tribal and other underprivileged populations.

ನೈತಿಕತೆ ಕಲಿಸುವ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಅಗತ್ಯ'

ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ­ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ನೈತಿಕತೆ ಕಲಿಸುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಯೋಗ್ಯತಾಪತ್ರ ನೀಡಲು ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆಯೇ ಹೊರತು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲಎಂದು ತುಮಕೂರಿನ ರಾಮಕೃಷ್ಣ ಮಠದ ವೀರೇಶಾನಂದ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿ ಅಸಮಾಧಾನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.  ಬಿಎಸ್‌ಆರ್‌ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿ ಫ್ಯಾಮಿಲಿ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್‌ ನಗರದ ಮಿಥಿಕ್‌ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾನುವಾರ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ವೇತನ ವಿತರಣಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ನೈತಿಕ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಬೆಳೆಸದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ­ದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವಿಲ್ಲ. ಮಾತೃ, ಮಾತೃ­ಭೂಮಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆ­ಯನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮರೆಯಬಾರದು. ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳ ಪಾಠ ಸಿಗಬೇಕು. ಮಕ್ಕಳು ನಿಜವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಪಡೆಯು­ವಂಥ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡಬೇಕು. ಆಳುವ ಯೋಗ್ಯತೆ ಇಲ್ಲ­ದವರು ಸದ್ಯ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆಎಂದರು.

ಸುಪ್ರೀಂಕೋರ್ಟ್‌ನ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಮುಖ್ಯ ನ್ಯಾಯಮೂರ್ತಿ ಎಂ.ಎನ್‌.­ವೆಂಕಟಾಚಲಯ್ಯ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ‘ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆ ನೀಡಬೇಕು. ಮೌಲ್ಯ­ವಿಲ್ಲದ ಪಾಂಡಿತ್ಯದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ­ವಿಲ್ಲಎಂದು ನುಡಿದರು. ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಡಿಜಿಪಿ ಡಾ.ಎಸ್‌.ಟಿ.­ರಮೇಶ್‌ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ‘ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾನೂ­ನನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಪಡೆ­ದಂತೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಹೊರ­ದೇಶಗಳಿಂದ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದ­ರಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮ ಪಾರಂಪರಿಕ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಮೌಲ್ಯ­ಗಳು ಸಮಾಜದಿಂದ ಮರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆಎಂದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದಮ್ಯ ಚೇತನ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್‌ನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ಡಾ.ತೇಜಸ್ವಿನಿ ಅನಂತ­ಕುಮಾರ್‌, ಭಾರತೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್‌ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ಡಾ.ವೈ.ನರಹರಿ, ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಬಿ.ಎನ್‌.ರಾಜಶೇಖರ್‌ ಮತ್ತು ಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಜೀವಿನಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಡಾ.ಎಸ್‌.ಶ್ರೀಕಂಠ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಇಂದಿನ ಯುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯವರು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅಂಕ ಗಳಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಸಾಧನೆ­ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದಿರುವ ಯುವ ಜನತೆ ಸಾಂಘಿಕ ಸಾಧನೆಯ ಕಡೆಗೂ ಗಮನ ಹರಿಸಬೇಕು. ನನಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಸನ್ಮಾನ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಗೌರವಎಂದು ತೇಜಸ್ವಿನಿ ಅನಂತಕುಮಾರ್‌ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ವೈ.ನರಹರಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ‘ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ­ಗಳು ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕತೆ, ಸಮಯ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಗಾಗಿ ಹೊರದೇಶಗಳ ಕಡೆಗೆ ನೋಡುವ ಅಗತ್ಯ­ವಿಲ್ಲ. ನಚಿಕೇತ, ಭೃಗು, ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿವೇಕಾ­ನಂದರನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ­ಗಳು ಆದರ್ಶವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಬೇಕುಎಂದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವಿಧ ಕೋರ್ಸ್‌­ಗಳ 82 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಟ್ಟು ₨ 7 ಲಕ್ಷ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ವೇತನ ವಿತರಿಸ­ಲಾಯಿತು. ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟಿ­ಗಳಾದ ಬಿ.ಆರ್‌.ನಾಗರಾಜ್‌, ಬಿ.ಆರ್‌.­ರವಿ ಮತ್ತಿತರರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

Student Scholarship Programme- 2013

BSR Sastry Family Trust awarded scholarships to  students  on Sudnay, 10th March 2013 at Mythic Society, Bangalore. The selection criteria for selection of the students  was  previous academic performance of the students and their financial need.   Students pursuing PUC, graduation, technical courses such as diploma, engineering and medicine were  given scholarships. The selection was made from about more than 1000 applications which were received in response to advertisements in leading news papers. 
The programme was conducted in Mythic Society auditorium, Bangalore.  Karnataka Governor H. R. Bharadhwaj, Fomer Chief Justice of India, Dr. M. N. Venkatachala, Dr. M. K. L. N. Sastry  were chief guests of the programme.  Shri.  B. R. Nagaraj gave an introduction to the aims and objectives of the trust.  Shri.  Shri H. S. S. Sastry gave a report on the scholarship.   Shri Murali compered the programme.  Invocation was by Dr. Sindhu. Shri. B. R. Ravi felicitated the chief guests and gave vote of thanks. 

 BSR Sastry Family Trust, formed in remembrance of Late Shri. B. S. Ramachandra Sastry and Late Smt. Jayamma, is working in the field of Education and Health from last two years.   

Student Scholarship Programme- 2012


BSR Sastry Family Trust awarded scholarships to 35 students  in a simple function at Bangalore on Sunday, 15tth January 2012. The selection criteria  was  previous academic performance of the students and their financial need.   Among the selected students,  9 are studying engineering,  15 students are studying PUC,  9 students   are pursuing Diploma and other bachelor courses and 3 are studying medicine.   






The selection was made from about 500 applications which were received in response to advertisements in leading news papers. The programme was conducted in Mythic Society auditorium, Bangalore.  Dr. T. V. Venkatachala Sastry, Dr. H. S. Nagaraja,  Dr. M. K. L. N. Sastry  and Dr. M. P. Shyam were chief guests of the programme.  Shri. Lakshmana Sastry introduced the chief guests .  Shri.  B. R. Nagaraj gave an introduction to the aims and objectives of the trust.  Shri.  Shri H. S. S. Sastry gave a report on the scholarship.   Shri Murali compered the programme.  Invocation was by Dr. Sindhu. Shri. B. R. Ravi felicitated the chief guests and gave vote of thanks.

  • To provide financial assistance to meritorious and economically weaker sections irrespective of caste, creed and community right from SSLC to degree including vocational courses, diploma, and professional courses like engineering, medicine, chartered accountancy, and law.
  • To encourage traditional studies including Veda study, Ayurveda, Darshanas, Siddhanta, and arthsastra.
  • Donation of books to recognized library/libraries.
Health
  • Medical aid to needy including sponsoring cataract surgeries, and treatments in hospitals.
  • ​To organize health camp utilizing pool of resources within the family/friends.
  • To organize Yoga camps, and to promote healthy lifestyles.
Social
  • To provide material support to age old home/orphanages and to provide emotional support to residents.
  • ​To render contribute in case of natural calamities.
Cultural

  • To render financial assistance for mass marriages, Upanayanams, restoration of temples.
  • To help needy families in performing the last rites (funeral).·
  • To honor eminent people who have rendered yeoman service to society.
  • To promote music and other art forms in collaboration with art institutions.

History of the Trust

Smt. M.K.Jayamma and Sri. B. S. R. Sastry Trust was formed by the children of Late Sri B.S. Ramachandra Sastry & Late Smt. M.K. Jayamma in 2010.  The trust was instituted as a family trust to remember the helping spirit of the couple and to promote Education, Health, Social and Cultural initiatives guided by universal value system. Late Sri B.S. Ramachandra Sastry was born in 1927 in a small hamlet called Bettapalli near KGF. He was orphaned when he was just 2 years old and had a very difficult childhood. He completed his schooling and then he joined the Indian Army as a civilian and thereafter worked for Birla and Tata group of companies. His interests were music, philosophy and helping the needy. Sri Ramachandra Sastry passed away on the 1st Sep. 2001. Late Smt. M.K. Jayamma was born in 1939 in Malur near Kolar, she had her schooling in Malur. She got married at a tender age of 15. Late Smt. M.K. Jayamma was a very dynamic and people oriented person and she had leadership qualities and was a guide and philosopher for families in the neighbor hood and among her relatives. She died on the 3rd Nov. 2012 The couple had a very soft corner towards students and people who were in difficulty. They always went beyond to help the needy.
